Hi,
I’m Nez Parr, founder of Calmful Therapy, a qualified humanistic, person-centred therapist registered with BACP, BAATN and NCPS and a Yoga Alliance Professionals certified yoga instructor.
I hold a BA (Hons) degree in Psychology with Counselling, Diploma in Counselling Practice and am a certified Yoga teacher and a qualified British Sign Language interpreter. I can also offer counselling and yoga sessions through BSL .
After my mother passed away in 2015, I started practicing yoga as a way of helping to deal with the loss and grief. Yoga philosophy and practice aligned with me and I found it incredibly beneficial. Several years later I decided to train to become a yoga teacher.
Every time I do yoga it allows me to fully relax out of my head; it’s the connection of the space I use solely for myself - the physicality of my body. Teaching yoga to others allows me to enable them to find their own safe space in a place where you can just ‘be’ - so you can focus more on yourself and less about others.
I’ve always been fascinated by psychology and counselling - how people think and behave the way they do, what triggers they have and how we monitor our own behaviour by growing self-awareness and self-acceptance. Counselling allows us to find a space of safety without judgement. It’s a joy when I see clients make those connections that lead to changes - they find inner tools of strength and resilience that previously were hidden or dormant.
